General Admissions Information

The Fletcher School's admissions process is designed to educate prospective parents and their children about our school and program.

The admissions process begins with an inquiry call to Susie Culp, Director of Admissions, at 704-365-4658, ext 1113. Before completing the application, we would like the opportunity to discuss your child's academic needs. You will be requested to provide a current (within 2 years) psychological and educational evaluation. If the child has an attention deficit disorder, we request that the neurological evaluation and diagnosis be no more than six months old. Applicants will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • Diagnosis of a Specific Learning Disability for grades K-12, and/or an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in grades 6-12.
  • Average or above average intelligence (Full Scale IQ of 85 and above)
  • Learning difficulties that are NOT the result of primary emotional or behavioral problems.
  • The Fletcher School is not able to accommodate the needs of students diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Autism Disorder including Asperger's Syndrome.

We do not recommend that you complete the application until your child's evaluation has been reviewed. If the evaluation indicates that your child appears appropriate for our program, the Admissions Office will schedule a visit for both parents.

The applicant will participate in two on-site activities. A placement assessment is given by an Admissions Tester. Using the assessment results, the student will be placed into classes on an appropriate level for a school visit. During the visit, the student will experience a regular school day in his/her current grade level. The Office of Admissions will call applicants by mid-May with an admissions decision. All openings are contingent upon our current student re-enrollment for the following school year.

The Fletcher School does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion or national origin in the administration of its educational programs, admissions policies, financial aid policies, employment practices or other school-administered programs.
