What is Development?
The Development Department of The Fletcher School is responsible for fund raising, marketing, and communications. We strive to increase the organization’s visibility and generate diversified and sustainable income for the work of the school.  At present there are two distinct, but equally important, funding priorities at The Fletcher School.

The Annual Fund Drive supplements tuition to provide an operating budget that will support small class sizes, multi-sensory teaching techniques, advanced classroom technology, and attention to individual learning styles.  This fund also supports financial aid, after-school programs, academic programs, and media center enhancements.  Tuition covers only 89% of the cost of educating a student.  Annual Fund contributions pay the balance.

The Create a Bright Future Capital Campaign was launched in 2001 to build an appropriate facility for current and new programs. Phases I and II have been completed with pledges of $6.5 million for purchase of the property and construction of the core building which includes administrative space, The Rankin Institute, and common areas such as the multipurpose room and media center. In addition to these permanent spaces, the campus includes temporary modular units that house classrooms.  Phase III is a $12 million campaign to provide permanent classroom wings, a gymnasium, and endowments for financial aid and operating expenses.

How can you give to The Fletcher School?
Giving a gift to The Fletcher School doesn't take great wealth—just a sincere desire to have a positive impact on the lives of children with learning disabilities and attention deficit.  All gifts, large and small, are important to us and are very much appreciated.  The most common donations are gifts of cash or securities, matching gifts from employers, and United Way contributions that are designated to The Fletcher School through the Donor Choice Program.  For more information on making a charitable donation to The Fletcher School, contact Susie Harris, Development Director, at 704-365-4658, ext 104 or sharris@thefletcherschool.org.

What will your legacy be?

Planned gifts to The Fletcher School provide a lasting contribution to the future of the school and allow you to leave a legacy of support for students with learning disabilities and attention deficit.  We hope you will consider a bequest or other deferred gift in your estate plans.  If you have already done so, please let us know!  If you would like more information on this subject, contact Susie Harris, Development Director, at 704-365-4658, ext 104 or sharris@thefletcherschool.org.
