2025-2026 Professional Development
The Professional Development series provides continuing education credit for teachers and interested professionals. The courses are designed to provide tools for teaching students with learning differences and ADHD but are beneficial for all students.
Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Training for Teachers
The Subscriber Level
Presented by Kristin Lane, Fellow/OGA, this is a three-part course offered to parents and other professionals to familiarize them with the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching. This course is an excellent introduction for those who are considering further training in the Orton-Gillingham approach.
Various dates, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cost: $75. Dates for 2025-2026 are Wednesday, February 11, 2026; Wednesday, February 18, 2026; and, Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Training for Teachers
The Classroom Educator Level
Presented by Kristin Lane, Fellow/OGA, this seminar follows the Classroom Educator curriculum guidelines established by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators which include classroom instruction, selected readings, and supervised teaching. Following this coursework, those interested in pursuing the Classroom Educator credential with the Orton-Gillingham Academy must complete 50 hours of supervised teaching. This practicum may be arranged through The Rankin Institute or individually with the instructing fellow at an additional cost.
Credit: 3.0 CEUs. Coursework Cost: $1,250 (includes handouts). Dates for 2025-2026 are June 22-26, 2026. Practicum Cost: $625.
Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Training for Teachers
The Associate Level
Presented by Joanie Gerken, ATFC/OGA, and Kristin Lane, F/OGA, this seminar follows the Associate curriculum guidelines established by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators which includes classroom instruction, selected readings, and supervised teaching. Following this coursework, those interested in pursuing the Associate credential with the Orton-Gillingham Academy must complete 100 hours of supervised teaching. This practicum may be arranged through The Rankin Institute or individually with the instructing fellow at an additional cost.
Credit: 7.0 CEUs. Coursework Cost: $2,000 (includes The Gillingham Manual and handouts). Dates for 2025-2026 are July 6-17, 2026. Practicum Cost: $1,250.
Orton-Gillingham Online Teacher Training Course
2025 Certified Level
The Certified member of the Academy demonstrates the knowledge and skill to provide instruction as an independent Orton-Gillingham practitioner.
This online training course is available to Associate members of the Orton-Gillingham Academy. The course combines synchronous and asynchronous learning, with content material presented through independent study followed by virtual in-class discussions. The live virtual classes will be held on Mondays for two hours, with three to four hours of independent work assigned for the next class meeting. Some of the independent work hours include a Book Club to study Louisa Moats’ Speech to Print in depth with a Fellow in Training. There will also be three Saturday morning classes. Videos, study guides, activities, and quizzes will be assigned as part of both the synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. The live sessions will be recorded and added to our Google Certified Class Site. While class attendance is mandatory, please let Joanie or Natalie know before the live Zoom class if you are unable to attend the scheduled class. They will let you know how to make up the missed class.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations initiated by registrants for Professional Development Training must be received in writing at least ten (10) business days prior to the first session of the course to be eligible for a refund. A $50 cancellation fee will be charged. Cancellations received after this deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
