The Fletcher School to welcome Dr. Robert Brooks for Fletcher Forum

Renowned psychologist from Harvard Medical School to speak at The Rankin Institute’s keystone program.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – 24 January 2022—  The Fletcher School will welcome Dr. Robert Brooks to speak at Fletcher Forum on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 7:00 pm for The Rankin Institute’s premier event. This free, virtual event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

“I spoke at the Fletcher School many years ago and was very pleased to be invited back to present at the Fletcher Forum.  I’m excited to have an opportunity to share with parents, teachers, and other professionals the strength-based approach and strategies I use in my work to nurture motivation and resilience in students—strategies that can be applied in both the school and home environment.” - Dr. Brooks

Dr. Brooks will speak on “Creating Positive Emotions: A Foundation for Learning, Intrinsic Motivation, and Resilience.”  Dr. Brooks has lectured nationally and internationally and has written extensively about such themes as resilience across the lifespan, motivation, learning, parenting and family relations, and creating positive school and work environments.

About The Fletcher School:

Founded in 1982, The Fletcher School is an independent, kindergarten-12th grade, college preparatory school serving approximately 270 students across the Charlotte region.  The bright, talented, and often gifted students learn in small, structured classes with a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Instruction is sequential, cumulative, and repetitious in order for students to achieve mastery and to mainstream into elementary, secondary, and post-secondary academic environments. The Rankin Institute, created in 2004 and operated through The Fletcher School, is a community resource providing education and resources to teachers, professionals, and parents beyond those directly involved with the academic programs at Fletcher.
